Current antibiotic shortages

The Australian Government is aware of current shortages of some antibiotics in Australia, including:

• amoxicillin
• cefalexin
• metronidazole.

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care has prepared some guidance documents on the antibiotic shortages for:

• the general public, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
• clinicians, including those working in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health sector
