In 2018, the Department of Health commissioned a consortium of researchers in Australia and New Zealand, led by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), University of Adelaide and the New Zealand Food Safety Science and Research Centre to conduct a literature review of published and grey literature concerning antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in food in Australia and New Zealand. The report provides an overview of available evidence on AMR presence in the food production, processing and retail sectors for red meat, pork, poultry meat, dairy, egg, seafood and horticultural products in Australia and New Zealand.
